Organizing On A Budget – How To Get Started
Organizing on a budget can be difficult but not impossible. Today I will start my journey to Get Organized On a Budget and share it with you… From chaos to organization!!
So this year has become the year of organization around our house. I says this year because I know it’s going to take an entire year. I have tried organizing on a budget around the house quite a few times over the years but I am taking a new approach this time and I think you will like it. I have decided I’m not going room by room or going crazy but taking strategic steps to get organized in the most dysfunctional areas of my house.
No one else in my house seems quite as thrilled about it as I am but that’s ok, they will get on board:). Part of our problem is there are many things in our house that frankly just don’t have a home and never have. When someone asks “Mom, where does this go?” The usual reply is “wherever you think it should lol”. Yes the important things have a place but sooo many things don’t. So I decided if I wanted to make this work I would first start with the biggest problem areas in our house. Since I’ve tried this so many times without anything sticking I suggest from my past experience try to do the same thing. I also decided I wasn’t going to spend a ton of money to do it. We were going to tackle organizing on a budget!!

So here’s the plan…
Sit down and brainstorm the biggest problem areas in the house.
What causes the most clutter?
What really just annoys you?
What simply doesn’t make any sense?
Here’s my first draft. I am sure it’s going to get longer but these are the biggest problems that annoy me every single day. I decided mine as well start with those.
- Kitchen not enough room for foods and need to work on the stockpile situation
- Bathroom There is no storage so everything overflows to the linen closet
- Paper Way too much clutter and no real system. I’m always losing papers of the kids or something I need in a pile. Coupons – need to edit my system to make my shopping planning faster. Mail.. enough said.
- Home Office I need an area that is quiet at times. I can get a lot more done in a smaller amount of time if I could concentrate.
- Entry way Everything needs a place… the shoes and backpacks are not decorations in my living room.
There are soo many more I will tackle that I am already thinking of now actually but let’s just start for now with this list and of course we will do all of this organizing on a budget.
So where will we start????
…..drum roll please……
The biggest culprit for clutter around here is paper, paper, paper. It’s also one of the biggest things that I think keeps me disorganized so it’s time to do something about it.
To start off project paper I am going to tackle a few things….
Receipts, mail, coupons, bills and important forms/papers…..
So stay tuned for Project Paper Part 1!!! And of course I will do all of this organizing on a budget!!!
Until next time,
