Organizing On A Budget – Let’s get started on project paper. Here is a simple way to keep track of your receipts that requires little time to set up and cost me 50 cents.
Organizing on a budget can be complicated but I want to start out small but powerful! I’m so eager to get all this paper organized in my house!! It’s such a huge problem around here but I found that if I broke it down it wasn’t quite as complicated. Just so you know going into this project I will do an entire post on where to go shopping for items to use when you are organizing on a budget if you are worried but for now I will take you through everything I used for each project and where I purchased them at.
So let’s get started with our first project! Receipts!!! I was able to complete this entire project for 50 cents! I started my search on the Target $1 rack which happened to be getting rid of some stuff for 50% off. I grabbed some supplies for a few projects needless to say. I decided I wanted an easy to put away receipts, track them for my budget and grab them if I needed them so I opted for no on using file folders. Instead I went with an accordion file. You can see some of the organization supplies I picked up here.

You don’t have to go to Target. You can get them at any dollar store, Wal-Mart or any office supply store.

I chose to label mine with my label maker, but if you don’t have one it’s not a big deal. You can find stickers very easily that are the numbers 1-12 and label the file that way or you could always just use a Sharpie! Whatever works best for you.

Organizing on a budget is getting fun 🙂
This part is of course optional depending on if you created labels, purchased stickers or maybe you are just marketing each tab with a Sharpie. Either way just label each tab to represent each month of the year.
After that your project is complete!! I actually found a mail sorter that wasn’t being used around the house and placed the receipt holder in it. This will be the beginning of some organization with all the paper around here! It’s a small change but if you follow a cash budget this makes it even easier to track or if you are trying to stay on a budget I find it’s really easy to go through my receipts and find exactly what was a need and what was more of a want and see where it’s best to cut back if needed.

Now…. project one of organizing on a budget is complete!!!
